Jane studied Textiles at college in London,
specialising in embroidery and weaving. She is inspired
by the excitement of choosing a fleece (having always
loved sheep), and spinning the wool into yarn.
When her sons both started school she felt
she wanted to get back to the textile world. Since then
she has been producing handspun and hand woven scarves,
rugs, bags and cushions.
Jane is a founder member of The Glamorgan
Guild of Spinners, Dyers and Weavers. In October 2012
she moved into the upstairs gallery space at Oriel Makers.
Her work now involves handspun luxury fibres such as silk
bamboo which she weaves or knits into scarves.
There is also a selection of silk scarfs
using the Shibori technique, often using natural dyes
including Indigo. Other work includes tapestry pictures,
rugs, cushions, bookmarks, key-rings, friendship bracelets,
wire brooches and pin cushions.
She can usually be found in the studio on
Tuesday afternoons, all day on Wednesdays and Thursdays,
but the studio is always open during Oriel Makers regular
