Ruth Shelley - glass

Ruth changed direction from knitted textiles to glass in 1991.

She initially worked with the traditional methods of leading and copper foiling the glass.

In the last five years she has been enamoured with the fusing of glass in a kiln. This method has enabled her to develop further artistic ideas, and gives more fluidity and movement to the glass.

She enjoys its endless possibilities, sometimes cutting and refusing apiece many times to obtain interesting and satisfactory results.

She also works to private and public commission.
