Tributes to our much missed team members
Margo Schmidt
We were all so sad to hear of the recent loss of our friend and group member, Margo
Schmidt. Margo had been battling cancer for some time with great courage and
positivity.
A ceramicist, teacher and gallery manager, Margo had been a member of Oriel
Makers’ core group for several years and her cheerful nature, humour and common
sense made her a joy to have as part of our team, always ready to help out and get
involved with whatever needed doing.
Margo is, and will be, greatly missed and remembered with much fondness by all of
us at the gallery.

Molly Curley
It was with great sadness recently that we heard about the loss of Molly Curley. Molly was one of Oriel Makers' founder members and continued to play an important part in it's running throughout our thirty years as an independent contemporary craft and art gallery. Her common sense, humour, kindness and energy have played a large part in our continued success.
Molly was a potter and her distinctive slip ware pieces were recognised and collected widely. Her influence was wide ranging, from her years teaching, to the formation of the Makers Guild in Wales and support of many other creative organisations, campaigns and events across South Wales.
Molly was an inspiration and continues to be much missed by all of us at Oriel Makers.
